Walking tour to Rome’s Catacombs along Via Appia

4 Hours

Take a walk from Rome city center to the Catacombs of Saint Callixtus, with sights of the ancient Via Appia and its stones that were laid more than 2000 years ago. A guided visit of the Catacombs is included.

The tour starts near the Coliseum and ends at the exit of the Caffarella Valley, near the ancient Via Latina. Public transport and taxis are available there.

Tour details:

At the meeting point outside the Circus Maximus you will find your guide and meet the other participants. From there, the group will head to Via Appia Antica, which starts outside the Aurelian Walls of Rome.

The walk along ancient ruins will continue as far as the Catacombs of Saint Callixtus or Saint Sebastian (depending on the opening days). A professional guide will show you how the early Christians did their burials.

After you emerge from underground, we will cross the green Caffarella Valley and reach the end point of the tour, where many private and public transport options are available.
